Following up on a meeting with the digital team at the agency I am at, and for anyone else in the Philadelphia is who is interested in linking up with others on digital matters, here is a quick list of digital organizations in the Philly area.
Independents Hall
A coworking space and community in Philadelphia for digital contractors. Hang out here and you will quickly catch wind of digital related events. The space itself has a very fresh and youthful vibe. I've found people welcoming and very open to talking.
Philly New Media
A calendar that aggregates many Philadelphia digital events. Go to the list page and you will find links to most groups in the area. There are no descriptions though, hence this post.
PhillyCHI
A very handy email list and UX club. The premier local group and list for people interested in UX, interaction design and secondarily in strategy and design. A very good group of people. If you are looking for professionals who might also become friends, this is a good place to start. As per their site, "PhillyCHI is the Philadelphia region’s chapter of the ACM SIGCHI, an interdisciplinary academic and professional group interested in Human-Computer Interaction, User Experience, Usability, and other related disciplines. PhillyCHI holds monthly meetings and socials to network and discuss current topics in HCI. "
PANMA (Philadelphia Area New Media Association)
Their email list is interesting. Comprised of small shops and contractors, the list subscribers discuss topics ranging from available jobs, content management system questions, and working in PHL.
OK. That aughta grease the skids.
