Publish or Perish

It has to be said that I am too busy helping clients to market myself very well. The design of my website is well past its shelf date and this blog is neglected. I have nailed strategy and user experience design as a professional but I am failing to promote myself.

UX designers on the whole are doing a phenomenal job discussing their craft. It seems everyone I know is publishing or speaking at a conference about UX.  But I would love to see a UX conference that addresses the publish or perish aspect of this business. Peter Merholz is an ace at this. I have known him since 1995 and looked down my nose at Peterme when he launched it because I thought it was it was more barking than biting, but now I see the value. With his promotion to Adaptive Path's leader I can really see the value.

Maybe I'm just lazy. Looking at what I have to do to catch up, I get exhausted.

It shouldn't be an unsurmountable task though. And it's not as if I am unarmed since Adaptive Path hired my wife to consult to them about their marketing strategy years ago. I can sit down with her and get started.

...Just as soon as I launch my client's project... and the one after that...
